Our family has been loving summer and enjoying more outdoor activity. With summer comes barbecuing, eating on the deck and spending time with our family and friends. Just this past weekend we were out grilling burgers, which is definitely a super simple summertime favorite (recipe below!).
Here in our family, we have adopted a Paleo lifestyle because it makes us feel our best. Along with unprocessed foods, leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, and some fruit, we focus on eating grass-fed meat, pastured free-range poultry and wild-caught fish. This may sound high maintenance, but I have two secrets to making this lifestyle super easy…
Two Secrets to an Easy Paleo Lifestyle
Secret #1: We order from Butcher Box
The Butcher Box delivers high quality meat right to your door. We are able to get a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly subscription depending on our needs, and then we always have what we need right in our freezer.
The Butcher Box partners with a collective of small farms to deliver premium products for less than $6 per meal, including 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, heritage breed pork and free-range organic chicken. Each Butcher Box is perfectly packed and pre-portioned for your needs. You definitely need to try it, and now is a great time!
Now through August 11, new customers who sign up for Butcher Box through this link will receive 6 free burgers (2lbs) with each box delivered through October 15th! You only have a few days left to take advantage of this great offer.
Once you snag the offer, try this super simple recipe for tasty, clean burgers:
Many burger recipes use bread crumbs (not paleo friendly) or prepackaged seasonings with unfriendly ingredients (sugar, corn starch, and “natural flavor”).
If you’re looking for a little more than just salt and pepper, I recommend the Mamma Mia! brand’s Garlic Ranch seasoning. It’s gluten free with no refined sugar and only three ingredients: California Garlic, Onion, Sea Salt.
Mix the seasoning into the ground meat (try ground turkey or ground chicken for a lean option) and form into patties or simply sprinkle it on both sides of pre-made patties. Pre-heat the grill and grill on medium high heat. Cooking time will vary depending on your choice of meat. For ground beef, 5 minutes on one side and 3 minutes on the other should give you medium doneness. I usually swap out the buns for lettuce, and enjoy topping with slices of avocado.
I found the seasoning in Whole Foods, but it is also available to purchase online. You can use discount code simpleandwell to save 25% on any Mamma Mia products.
Secret #2: We meal plan with Real Plans
With both of these products, you will no longer come home and ask yourself, “What’s for dinner?” and it will make sticking to a Paleo lifestyle so much easier. A little planning and high-quality meat delivered right to your door will keep you and your family happy, healthy, and slim.
